The GSMCF objectives are as follows:

1. To form a strong industry lobby group for GSM telecommunications operators in Nigeria to be utilised as a platform for influencing and ensuring the emergence and sustained development of pro-competitive telecommunications policies and legal and regulatory frameworks appropriate to the Nigerian telecommunications market.
2. To promote greater cohesion between GSM operators and the industry regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Government at all levels, consumers, the public and all other relevant stakeholders with the aim of ensuring the sustained development of a vibrant Nigerian telecommunications market in line with global trends and best practices.
3. To encourage, promote and ensure enhanced service delivery to consumers by, among other things, providing timely information on relevant aspects of the operations of its members.
4. To afford members increased visibility and profile and enable them be more effective in their areas of operation.
5. To promote effective self regulation, co-operation and partnership amongst its members and between its members and other similar telecommunications umbrella bodies such as the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), regional bodies such as ECOWAS, WATRA and other international organisations such as the ITU in the attainment of these objectives.
6. To engage in any other activities that are incidental to or deemed necessary for the fulfilment of the objectives of the GSMCF.
